Description

Objectives

The main objective is to promote common responses to the challenges of agriculture in the SUDOE area, through the implementation of smart specialization strategies, for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural sector that strengthens the socio-economic fabric of rural areas. To this end, the partners will work together to implement solutions to accelerate the digital transition of agriculture towards a more resilient, climate risk-adapted, optimized and water-efficient agricultural sector. The project will develop a transnational strategy to promote the development, provision and dissemination of digital solutions, focusing on the various levers to build the necessary capacities among key players in the agricultural value chain and innovation.

Specific objectives:

  • Develop a transnational strategy that promotes the development, implementation and dissemination of integrated solutions to meet the needs of sustainable, smart and digital agriculture, in application of S3 regional priorities.
  • Implement jointly prepared pilot actions, as well as demonstration projects, to test and evaluate effective solutions and measures for the transition to sustainable, smart and digital agriculture, building the necessary capacities among key players in the agricultural value chain and innovation

General activities

  • Transnational strategy promoting the development and provision of integrated solutions to meet the needs of sustainable, smart and digital agriculture in implementation of S3 regional priorities, broken down into.
    an Action Plan for the digitization of agricultural water use to serve as a reference for the other regions of the SUDOE territory.
  • Joint training program for irrigators implemented in Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia, New Aquitaine and Alentejo. Irrigation management with digital twins of irrigated plots in Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia, New Aquitaine and Alentejo, and field visits. Drought contingency plans supported by digital technologies in Catalonia, Andalusia and Alentejo. Method of characterization and evaluation of existing digital solutions in the market.

Expected impact

The jointly developed SGW strategy will include the testing of transferable solutions with 4 pilot actions:

  • Proven training of irrigators in Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia, New Aquitaine and Alentejo.
  • Irrigation/fertigation management through digital twins implemented in Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia, New Aquitaine and Alentejo.
  • Action against drought through the development of drought contingency plans using digital technologies in Catalonia, Andalusia, Murcia and Alentejo.
  • Method of characterization and catalog of digital tools on the market to guide farmers according to their needs and towards reliable systems.

The strategy will be adopted for the duration of the project and will be broken down into an action plan for at least one territory. The project will thus disseminate more knowledge and better tools to address challenges related to the digital transformation and ecological sustainability of agricultural production models.
