9th International Convention on Environment and Development (Cuba, July 8-12, 2013)

The Environment Agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba, together with other agencies and organizations, is pleased to invite researchers, authorities, teachers, specialists, managers, entrepreneurs, professionals, producers and other people around the world working for the sustainability of our planet, to participate in the 9th International Convention on Environment and Development, to be held on July 8-12, 2013, at the Conference Center in Havana.

This momentous convention, emerged in 1997 under the slogan "Five Years after Rio" will be held one year after the Rio+20 Summit. Its main objectives are aimed at promoting integration, implementation, and coherence of what we have to do, and was recognized in the final document of the forum.

The events slogan "Urge a major change for the future we want" calls to build fairer societies, establishes a more equitable international order, based on respect for the right of all, ensures sustainable development of nations, especially South, and makes progress in science and technology at the service of saving the planet and human dignity.

The agreement will promote cooperation among countries, exchange of experiences and sustainable practices, knowledge transfer, to ensure our commitment with sustainable development, and promote economic, social and environmentally-sustainable future for present and future generations. Similarly, it will be an ideal space to assess the progress of ties between science and policies, and new ways to build capacities.

The 9th edition of the Convention is organized in groups for congresses and colloquiums, covering many current environmental contents.

There will be 6 congresses on Climate Change, Environmental Education, Protected Areas; Environmental Management, Management of Ecosystems and Biodiversity, and Law and Environmental Justice, and four colloquiums on Environmental management, Sustainable Land Management, Environmental Regulation, and Transport and Environment. In addition, renowned national and international experts will give lectures and roundtable discussions on priority environmental issues. An exhibition fair associated with technologies, environmental projects and experiences will be also held.

The Organizing Committee of the Convention reiterates the invitation to present professional contributions.
