Description
Objectives To assess the use, environmental fate and risks of plastic and microplastics in European agriculture.
General activities The project includes large-scale experiments to assess the fate and effects of microplastics on various agricultural and environmental endpoints, as well as studies to monitor consumption patterns and the presence of microplastics in different agricultural facilities.
Expected results Mitigation and risk management measures to be incorporated into new European policies on the use of plastics in agriculture. This project was evaluated by the European Commission as relevant in relation to the Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” and specifically for its contribution to the prevention and elimination of pollution: nutrients, chemicals, pesticides; as stated in the Portfolio Analysis EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030”.
