She holds a degree in Chemistry from from the University of Córdoba (UCO). She received her PhD in Chemical Sciencies in Analytical Chemistry. During 2007, she worked in quality control at the multinational company KME-LOCSA in Córdoba and continued her research work as Area Head in the Bioanalysis and Control Unit of the CQAB (Center for Bioanalysis and Control) at the University of Alcalá (UAH). Since 2013, she has coordinated the IMDEA Water Laboratory and is currently an associate researcher at the same organization. She has broad in the field of separation techniques based on chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (MS). She has participated in several research projects, mainly in the development and validation of methods of compounds of pharmaceutical, bioanalytical, food, and environmental interest, as well as in the development of metabolomic analysis strategies for the identification of new transformation products and/or metabolites. Since 2010, she is a vocal member of two AENOR committees. She has participated in more than 50 R&D projects funded by public entities and private companies over the last 15 years. She is co-author of more than 30 scientific articles in the high impact journals (Q1). She has presented more than 45 papers at national and international congress. She currently teaches in several Master’s and specialized training courses. She has co-supervised more than 25 master’s degree final projects, as well as supervised laboratory practices for students in Chemistry and Pharmacy and Workplace Training (FCT) training programs in the Community of Madrid. She co-directed the latest doctoral thesis in 2023, “Attenuation of Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Green Filters. Identification of Transformation Products.”.
