The Bioe group joins the E3TECH network of excellence
This initiative aims to promote the environmental and energy applications of electrochemistry
The Bioe Group, which icludes researchers from IMDEA Water and the University of Alcalá, has joined the Network of Excellence Environmental and energy applications of the electrochemical Ttechnology” (E3TECH), through the expert in electrochemical engineering Juan Manuel Ortiz.
Dr Juan Manuel Ortiz is Bioe’s representative in this thematic network (CTQ2017-90659-REDT), whose objective is to combine the experience of environmental and energy applications of electrochemical technology from 10 research groups. E3TECH seeks to have an impact both on the promotion of research in electrochemical technology and the implementation of this discipline in the industrial sector.
Ortiz has worked for a decade in the Applied Electrochemistry and Electrocatalysis research group at the Institute of Electrochemistry, University of Alicante. Since 2015, he has been researching at IMDEA Agua focused on the development of microbial electrochemical processes for the treatment of urban and industrial wastewater, and sustainable desalination systems. In addition, he has been the principal investigator of the BioDEs project (R&D&I Projects for Young Researchers, Call 2015. Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities), and has participated in some 11 national and 4 European projects, including BacWire (FP7) and MIDES (Horizon 2020).
