Carlos Mario Gómez, speaker at the 3rd EIP Water Conference
“How is water innovation succeeding in Europe?” is the main topic
Dr. Carlos Mario Gómez, IMDEA Water associated researcher, will participate as speaker at the 3rd EIP Water Conference on 10 February 2016 in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.
The European Innovation Partnership on Water, or EIP Water, is an initiative within the EU 2020 Innovation Union. Launched in 2012, facilitated by the European Commission and coordinated by the DG Environment, EIP Water facilitates the development of innovative solutions to address major European and global water challenges and support the implementation of the Water Framework Directive. At the same time, EIP Water aims to create market opportunities for these innovations, both inside and outside Europe.
This conference under the banner of “How is water innovation succeeding in Europe?” has as principal goal to foster innovation in the European water sector by showcasing the experience of innovators and the lessons they have learnt. It will count on the participation of 22 speakers all of them relevant researchers and experts on water area.
Since 2013 Carlos Mario is leading “SPADIS – Smart Prices and Drought Insurance Schemes in Mediterranean Countries”. This Action Group of EIP Water focuses on the design and implementation of economic instruments with the best potential to induce individual decisions regarding water use in order to contribute to the collective goals of reducing vulnerability to water scarcity and increasing resilience to droughts risk.
In addition to this, Economic Analysis Group of IMDEA Water, lead by Mr. Carlos Mario Gómez, takes part in another Action Group called RiverRes-River Restoration Benefits. The objetive of this Action Group is to provide a Roadmap to address current policy challenges, in particular, how river restoration can increase the effectiveness of EU directives.
