David Mostaza presented his work about SMART- HYDRO project in the V Doctoral Days of the UCLM

It focuses on the characterization of the environment and the study of environmental factors involved in the changes that occur in it

SMART-HYDRODavid Mostaza Colado, IMDEA Water researcher, presented a poster in the V Doctoral Symposium at the University of Castilla La Mancha entitled "Study of environmental factors and the hydrogeological evolution of the groundwater body (MAS) 030 007 in the area called "La Isla" (Arganda del Rey, Madrid) "(download the poster here). This work is part of the tasks of the SMART-HYDRO project "Intelligent system to optimize the use of water in agriculture" that focuses on the characterization of the environment and the study of environmental factors involved in the changes that occur in it. Data have been obtained during a period of seven months, that justify the conclusion that the MAS 030 007 is affected by environmental factors and external factors such as anthropogenic factors. To determine the magnitude of impacts is necessary to continue collecting data and comprehensive analysis of them.

SMART-HYDRO aims to incorporate technological advances in sensors, multispectral images and telecommunications to control the quantity and quality of groundwater in agricultural landscape, in order to reduce energy costs, water losses and environmental impact. We also aim to assess the aquifers quality by using crustaceans as ecological indicators for groundwater ecosystem health (Funding: Plan Nacional de I+D+i, RTC-2014-2367-5; 2014-2018).
