A Chinese delegation visited IMDEA Water Institute where they had the opportunity to know about the research lines developed and talk to different researchers on environmental issues that are of interest in China.
The delegation was participating in a technological and business meeting, Hispanic-Chinese "2nd China Spain Innovation Partnership Development Forum in Environmental Technologies", jointly organized by the CDTI (Spanish Centre for Industrial Technological Development) and TORCH (Chinese High Technology Industry Development Centre), with the aim of promoting bilateral relationships between the technological entities of both countries. The Chinese Government representatives showed the challenges they have on environment and the strong policies they are developing to support that sector, specifically focused on climate (air pollution monitoring), solid waste (reducing the volume of solid waste and its treatment) and water (drinking water, wastewater treatment and water quality). After the presentation of these challenges, participants from both countries (companies, universities and R&D centres) made technological presentations focused on the integrated management of the water cycle and the management of urban and industrial wastes). The Forum ended with matchmaking sessions and different bilateral meetings.
After this technological forum, the delegation visited the IMDEA Water Institute headquarters where the Directors and the researchers showed the activity on water they are carrying out and focusing on those that were of interest to the delegation as water quality, wastewater treatment, reuse of reclaimed water and quality of water bodies. The feasible projects of technological cooperation that may arise from these meetings can be also submitted to the CHINEK, the specific bilateral program of cooperation between Spain and China, managed jointly by the CDTI and TORCH.
