Objectives

The overall aim of this contract is to set out the context and conditions for providing, throughout the whole contract period, quick technical and legally related input to the Commission, in response to punctual requests. The purpose is to support the work of the Commission in securing a sound implementation and enforcement of the Water Framework Directive, its daughter Directives (EQSD and Groundwater) and the Floods Directive, as well as of its future work on the development and implementation of the European Water Resilience Strategy announced by President Von der Leyen.

Activities

• Support the Commission in the follow-up to the assessment of the 3rd RBMPs and 2nd FRMPs
• Carry out assessments and provide technical and legal guidance on ad hoc requests in the context of complaints/petitions/written questions, compliance checking, pilot/administrative/information/clarification/infringement processes and funding projects
• Deliver scientific and technical analysis on issues underpinning the future European Water Resilience Strategy
