Eloy García Calvo receives the Research and Transfer Award 2022 granted by the University of Alcalá

Eloy García Calvo, Director of the IMDEA Water Institute and Professor of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá (UAH) has received the Research and Transfer Award 2022, in the category of research excellence, granted by the University of Alcalá.

The award recognises Eloy García Calvo’s contribution to research, innovation and knowledge transfer. Among his merits, the jury valued the number and quality of his competitive research projects and publications, as well as the balance of his research career.

García Calvo has been director of IMDEA Water since its creation. With a PhD in Industrial Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid, he is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the UAH, where he was Vice-Rector for Research between 2002 and 2006. He has also been a member of the evaluation panel of the Environment and Climate Programme within the 3rd and 4th EU Framework Programmes.

Of the various projects in which he has participated, it is worth highlighting the coordination of the five-year Consolider Tragua, with the participation of more than 200 researchers from 24 research groups from all over Spain. For four years (2006-2010) he coordinated the National Reference Centre for Persistent Organic Compounds (CNR-COP).

His research results include the authorship of 7 patents and more than 100 indexed scientific articles, 12 book chapters and 14 supervised doctoral theses.

In 2015 he was appointed Corresponding Academician of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy.
