Environmental Education Award
During the opening ceremony of the 28th SETAC Europe Annual Meeting in Rome the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry has delivered its annual awards.
Marco Vighi is the winner of the SETAC Environmental Education Award 2018. This important award honours substantial contributions in the development of interdisciplinary activities related to the advancement and the dissemination of knowledge on environmental sciences and ecotoxicology.
The motivation of the award has been the outstanding contribution in founding and leading research groups and in developing and disseminating knowledge in several field of environmental applied sciences and ecotoxicology.
During its long career Marco Vighi formed two generations of scientists that now cover prestigious positions in universities and research centres in Europe and South America, in European Agencies (such as the European Food Safety Agency EFSA, the European Medicines Agency EMA, the European Chemicals Agency ECHA, and the European Joint Research Centre JRC), in the industry and international environmental consulting agencies. So, the products of his school cover the three branches of the SETAC mission: Academia, Business, and Government.
