Prof Marco Vighi and Dr Andreu Rico, from the Ecotoxicology Group of the IMDEA Water Institute, are attending the 11^th Iberic and 8^th Iberoamerican Congress on Environmental Contamination and Toxicology (CICTA). The theme of this event is Environmental protection in a global changing world: technological, scientific and social challenges.

During the Congress, that it is taking place at the School of Forest Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Prof Marco Vighi presented a communication entitled “Presence of organic contaminants in the rivers from the upper Tagus watershed (Central Spain)”, Dr. Andreu Rico presented a work entitled ‘Effects of imidacloprid and a neonicotinoid mixture on aquatic invertebrate communities under Mediterranean conditions’.

The Ecotoxicology Group has expertise in the Assessment of the risk for ecosystems determined by contaminants and their interactions with the environment, taking into account the vulnerability of individuals, populations and communities to chemical and non-chemical stressors.
