Gerardo Riccardelli tells us about his internship at IMDEA Water

Gerardo Ricardelli is an italian student in Environmental Engineering Master´s Degree from Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale.  During the period  from Febraury to July of 2018 he has been developing his research within Membrane Technology Group at IMDEA water, under the framework of Erasmus Plus Programme.

 

1. What does your job consist of?

I did a traineeship (post-master) at Imdea Water about recycling reverse osmosis membranes. How to recycle and transform the End-of-life reverse osmosis membranes to use in electrodialysis process to desalt the salt water.  My studies were focused on a pretreatment of the recycled membranes due to activating their exchange properties.

 

 

2. Why did you choose IMDEA Water for an internship?

A friend of mine told me about her traineeship at an institute of Imdea and suggest me to looking for Imdea Water and I did. then I discovered a lot of interesting research doing here so I decided to apply here.

 

3. How this internship helps you to advance in your research?

Carrying out my traineeship in IMDEA Water helped me to improve my skills and knowledge in wastewater treatment, more specifically in membrane technology.
