IMDEA Water attended to the presentation of the eighth issue of iAgua Magazine
iAgua presented his Magazine number 8 at a conference held in Madrid, where experts in desalination from main research institutions and companies in Spain attended.
This new edition of the Magazine is a monographic on desalination, in which IMDEA Water Institute has participated with the article "An alternative management membranes discarded". This article describes the progress that, the membranes research group from IMDEA Water together with Sadyt and Valoriza Agua companies, are developing in the framework of the European project LIFE+ 13 ENV/ES/000751 TRANSFOMEM, entitled “Transformation of disposed reverse osmosis membranes into recycled ultra-and nanofiltration membranes”
In this project the recycling process of discharged membranes and it use in nanofiltration and ultrafiltration membranes are been investigated. The goal is not only to recover membranes (through oxidation processes of the active layer of damaged membranes) but to enable them to be reusable in the treatment of sea water, brackish water or in the tertiary treatment of wastewaters.
