IMDEA Water marks 11 years since obtaining the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers Award (HRS4R), which has been renewed after several evaluation processes that showcase the improvements that had been implemented. The strategy is the mechanism that helps institutions comply with the Charter and Code that aims to retain and increase talent in Europe, provide a favorable working environment, promote professional development, and ensure good research practices.

In July 2010, IMDEA Water became the first Spanish institution (and the eleventh in Europe) to receive this recognition from the European Commission. The award is given to those institutions that commit and strive to implement the 40 principles of the Charter and Code.
