This publication is the number 1 of the series entitled Journal of Geomatics. Titled "Spatial techniques applied to environmental hydrology", this publication includes five chapters that present several applications of new space technologies.

During 2012 a series of seminars on the practical application of Geomatics was organised by IMDEA WATER. This is an ambitious initiative of continuity that seeks to highlight the wide variety of existing spatial techniques and their instrumentation in specific studies whose main focus is water.
