IMDEA Water showed its research to School
During the VI Conference "With Science in School"
Círculo de Bellas Artes and Fundación Benéfico-Social Hogar del Empleado (FUHEM), in collaboration with other entities, organized for the sixth consecutive year the VI Conference "With Science in School", in which students showed the scientific projects that they have developed.
This time other scientific institutions such as the CSIC, the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and IMDEA Institutes were invited, in order to bring science closer to citizens through participatory activities in which visitors were not mere viewers.
IMDEA Water organized two activities:
- The water under our feet: Is there life underground?. This activity shows the underground aquatic ecosystems and their importance as a natural resource of drinking water. It will also transmit the relevance of the study of organisms inhabiting these environments and their adaptations to estimate the quality of water. They will also know how aquifers work since they can simulate the construction of an aquifer and they will know the vulnerability of these systems to contamination
Drop by drop your food runs out. This activity is intended to highlight the value of water resources, emphasizing its importance not only for direct consumption but also in the production and processing of food. Through an interactive game, the public is invited to discover how much water is needed to produce the food they eat daily. The results will be surprising and will impact the public about the need to conserve this resource.
The Conference took place on 9 and 10 March from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00h, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
