IMDEA water was at the UNESCO Institute for Water Education
Life Cycle Analysis in the Dutch Institute IHE-Delft
The researcher Jorge Senán Salinas, member of the Membrane Technology group, was at the UNESCO Institute for Water Education (IHE Delft) from 11th to 13th of March, with the aim of exchanging ideas with members of the IHE. The objective of this stay was to carry out the Life Cycle Analysis of the microbial desalination at a pre-pilot scale. During the meeting, common points of interest were identified for future lines of work, as well as for the design of research pilot plants.
Both groups agreed on the need to stablish indicators for Life Cycle Analysis and on the definition of scientific objectives associated with the prevention of environmental , in the context of the Circular Economy.
In addition, Jorge Senán talked about his work at IMDEA Water Institute within the Membrane Technology group and the relevance of these scientific indicators in the innovation of the field of membrane recycling.
IIHE-Delft is a partner of the MIDES project, in which IMDEA Water participates through the Bioe group. The project aims to build the first real-scale plant for microbial desalination to obtain desalinated water from seawater with low energy costs.
