Predoctoral researcher at IMDEA Water, Lorena Martínez García, was one of the invited speakers at the III National One Health Conference, organized by the One Health Platform in collaboration with the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), held from May 27 to 29 in Majadahonda (Madrid).

In her presentation, “Effects of heat waves on antibiotic resistance and microbial communities in aquatic ecosystems”, she presented the results of research focused on the impact of climate change on environmental health. In 2025, Lorena received the award for best poster presentation, which earned her a scholarship to present her work at this year’s edition.

Under the theme “One Health in action: connecting ideas, people and solutions”, the III National One Health Conference is consolidated as a leading forum for promoting the integration of this approach into public policies and decision-making. Key topics addressed during the event included environmental pollution, water management and food safety, zoonoses and climate change, health equity, antimicrobial resistance, and the communication and transfer of knowledge to society.
