Participation in SETAC Europe 26th Annual Meeting
IMDEA Water participate in SETAC Europe 26th Annual Meeting.
Last week, the Europe 26th Annual Meeting, from Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), took place in Nantes, France. (May 22-26)
Under the general theme “Environmental contaminants from land to sea: continuities and interface in environmental toxicology and chemistry”, experts from academia, government and industry will share the most recent advanced knowledge in environmental sciences in order to improve chemical risk assessment and support current and future policies.
Researchers from IMDEA Water contributed to the congress throught different presentations, such as:
- “Natural variability of biomarkers in the macro-zoobenthos: dependence on life stage and environmental factors”, among the authors is the IMDEA Water researcher Marco Vighi, who carry out a study about the usefulness of biomarkers in ecotoxicology. More specifically, the aim of the study is to evaluate the variability of some enzymatic biomarkers in order to limit any potential anthropic influence
- “Influence of chemical and non-chemical stressors on the macroinvertebrate community composition of the Danube river” with Dr. Andreu Rico, researcher from IMDEA Water, as one of the researchers. In this study Andreu evaluate single and combined effects of chemical pollution on aquatic communities of large rivers.
Both researchers, Marco Vighi and Andreu Rico belong to the ecotoxicology group of IMDEA Water.
