Osama Hassan is a passionate researcher transforming the future of water management under climate change. Specializing in socio-hydrological systems and hydro-economic modeling, he leverages his expertise in Socio-hydrology to turn complex data into actionable insights, fostering a resilient future.

He was a research assistant at TRANSCEND project, he focused on investigating human-water systems under deep uncertainty and climate change. His primary interest lied in utilizing hydro-economic models that integrate hydrological and economic systems, contributing to sustainable water resource management strategies. TRANSCEND project is funded be the European Union’s HORIZON EUROPE research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101084110.

With a Master’s degree in Hydroinformatics from IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education, he has long been driven by the desire to solve complex water-related challenges. His journey spans from teaching aspiring engineers to engaging in pioneering research projects that address today’s pressing water issues.

His expertise includes catchment modeling, coupled MIKE 11–MIKE SHE hydrological modeling, and surface water–groundwater interactions. Proficient in Python, MIKESHE, MIKEHYDRO, SWAT, MODFLOW, PMP, PMAUP and QGIS, he applies advanced modeling techniques to predict potential shifts in water resources and economic outcomes.

He is currently working on his doctoral thesis within the Economic and Institutional Analysis group. The thesis project focuses on integrated and dynamic hydroeconomic modelling for sustainable water management (Grant PIPF-2024/ECO-35944, funded by the Community of Madrid).
