The project to support the Saharawi camps continues
To improve the quality of life in the Saharawi camps in Tindouf-Algeria is the aim of a project in which a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the University of Jaen and IMDEA Water Institute participate. This activity is part of the collaboration between both entities.
The project covers various topics of interest such as health, solar energy, education and water potability. After a first visit to the camps last March to identify existing problems and defining possible improvements, a new trip will take place in late October to continue moving forward with the work, in which specifically IMDEA Water is committed to improve the technical malfunctions of photovoltaic solar energy infrastructure and the treatment and distribution water system.
Researchers will also participate in training to the personnel in charge of the maintenance and repair of these infrastructures at the camps. With this training, they will be able to manage themselves maintaining the photovoltaic power and water infrastructures.
