Rafael Fernández Rubio, awarded by the International Association of Hydrogeologists

Mr. Rafael Fernández Rubio, President of the IMDEA Water Board of Trastees, has received the "Career Award in hydrogeology and its application in Spain". This prize is awarded by the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH -GE , Spanish Group) in the 2013 edition.

Mr. Rafael Fernández Rubio, President of the IMDEA Water Board of Trastees, has received the "Career Award in hydrogeology and its application in Spain". This award is given by the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH -GE , Spanish Group) in the 2013 edition.

This award, ex aequo with Dr. Alfredo Baron Periz , recognizes his extensive and excellent career in the field of hydrogeology and its applications in Spain.

Prof. Fernández Rubio has developed a very extensive work as lecturer and consultant in the fields of hydrogeology , environmental engineering and mining. He has participated in more than 850 missions in 54 countries on five continents. In these missions he has always transmitted the message of the cooperation in hydrogeological, mining and environmental topics, transmitting teachings of good practice, following the exposition of the Chinese philosopher who was Kuan-tzu: "it is better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish".

In the last years, he has focused his international activity on the problems of the water on the mining industry and the civil works, always on the context of sustainable development.
