Antonio Berná Galiano got a degree in Chemical Engineering (2000) and a PhD in Materials Science (2014) from the University of Alicante. His PhD thesis was focused on the characterization of the electrode/solution interphase by means of coupled electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical (SEIRAS) techniques. Application of these techniques to the study of bacteria/electrode interaction triggered his interest in Microbial Electrochemistry. After moving to University of Alcalá, his research was devoted to the practical applications of bioelectrochemical systems.
Since 2015, works as researcher in IMDEA Water, and in 2019 was granted with a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporación contract (MICIU). Moreover, since 2019 is Assistant Lecturer in the university UC3M of Madrid teaching Environmental Technology.
His research activity has produced 37 articles (averaging 116 cites per year (2015-2019) and h index 21), 39 contributions to national and international meetings, and participation in more than 20 national and european research projects.
Related to Technological Transfer activities, Antonio Berná has authored 5 patents and is cofounder of Nanoelectra S.L., a technological based company.
