Francesco obtained a B.Sc. degree in Energy Engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, and a M.Sc. degree in Environmental Economics at the University of Turin. After a period of stay at the University of Salamanca (USAL) for his master thesis, he joined the USAL research group led by Dr. Dionisio Pérez-Blanco, where he completed a PhD in Economics with “international mention” and extraordinary award. During his PhD, he made research stays at institutions such as the IVM-VU in Amsterdam and the CMCC in Venice and participated in numerous international conferences. His thesis introduced a hydro-economic framework to address water scarcity in agriculture under deep uncertainty. Francesco’s research focuses on modeling ensembles of Human and Natural Systems, to manage uncertainty and ensure robust policy assessments. His approach connects economic and environmental objectives, with plans to incorporate behavioral economics into agro-economic modeling. He joined IMDEA Agua as a postdoctoral researcher in November 2024 as part of the TRANSCEND project.
