The TALE project wins the 4th edition of the BiodivERsA Prize for Excellence and Impact

The BiodivERsA Prize is awarded on a yearly basis to showcase the achievements that have produced excellent science with concrete impacts for policy and/or society.

TALE (Towards multifunctional agricultural landscapes in Europe) was funded under the 2013-14 joint call for research proposals on ā€œPromoting synergies and reducing trade-offs between food supply, biodiversity and ecosystem servicesā€.

The project (April 2015 – March 2018) investigated the potential conflicts and possible synergies between agricultural services and biodiversity through the development of land use scenarios and optimisation models in five river basins across Europe.

IMDEA Water Institute contributed to the creation of a hydrological model that reflected the performance of the water resources of the Cega, Eresma and Adaja watersheds – in the provinces of Ɓvila, Segovia, and Valladolid – as part of the Douro River basin. Assessing both the quality and quantity of watershed resources, it is possible to predict the effects of water management strategies, land use and climate change impacts on water resources.
