B.Sc. in Biology and B.Sc. in Ecology obtained in 2010 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Master (2013) and PhD (2017) in Biophysics, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

During his PhD, he conducted research in the Aquatic Ecology and Water Management group at Wageningen University (The Netherlands). His thesis focused on understanding the dynamics and diversity of cyanobacteria during blooms. His research included the application of molecular techniques such as 16SrRNA sequencing and qPCR.

From 2017 to 2023, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Microbiology Laboratory of Wageningen University, gaining extensive experience in microbiology, with a main focus on anaerobic microbiology, molecular techniques, microscopy and flow cytometry.

Currently, he holds the position of technician responsible for the Biological Analysis Service and the Microbial Ecology Unit at IMDEA Water.
