XVIII Conference of the Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL).

XVIII Congress organized by the Iberian Association of Limnology (AIL) and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Research and Technology (IRTA) under the slogan "Water is Life" has taken place in Tortosa (Tarragona).

Andrea Castaño Sánchez and Rubén Rasines Ladero, researchers from groundwater ecology group participated with two oral presentations were performed entitled: "Testing the acute toxicity of human pharmaceutical compounds on groundwater (Diacyclops crassicaudis crassicaudis Sars, 1863) and Surface crustacean species (Daphnia magna Müller, 1785)" (by Andrea Castaño); and "Patterns of groundwater copepods and ostracods biodriversity and distribution in relation to aquifer types in Central Spain. Hydrogeology vs. environmental factors "(by Rubén Rasines).

During the congress they both also attended a course taught by Dr. Veronica Ferreira from the University of Coimbra (Portugal) entitled "Introduction to meta-analysis in ecology".
