IMDEA Agua hosts the second progress meeting for the MADisWATER project
IMDEA Agua hosted the second technical meeting for the MADisWATER project to evaluate the progress of the work. During the session, the teams involved came together to share results obtained to date and to refine the initiative’s technical and strategic roadmap, aiming at promoting water sustainability in Madrid.
This public-private innovation hub coordinated by Repsol brings together key partners from the water sector and industry –including Canal de Isabel II, Metfilter, Canal de Isabel II, Metfilter, AQUACORP, Water Challenge and APIQuality, and focuses on minimizing the water footprint and improving resource availability in the urban and industrial water cycle.
Three key project areas participated in the meeting: the Environmental Bioelectrochemistry, Membrane Technology, and Water, Environment and Economics (WAVE) research groups. Dialogue between these disciplines enabled an integrated approach to addressing the development of bioelectrochemical processes, the application of advanced filtration technologies, and the analysis of the socioeconomic viability and sustainability of the systems under study.
As part of the official agenda, the delegation was welcomed by the centre’s director, Dr Irene de Bustamante. Following the technical session, a tour of the laboratories and pilot plants was conducted, which allowed participants to see the institute’s analytical infrastructure firsthand and examine ongoing experimental trials supporting the project’s activities.
