Membrane Technology
The Membrane Technology group addresses the complete life cycle of membranes: from their preparation to their use in water treatment and recycling.
- Development of new generation antifouling membranes.
- Evaluation of different types of membranes (reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration) in water treatment.
- Modification of recycled membranes and their implementation in the purification of urban wastewater using membrane bioreactors and desalination by electrodialysis.
What do we do?

In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This Agenda has 17 Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by all UN Member States, which are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.

Dr. Eloy García Calvo received his Ph.D. in Industrial Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 1980. Since 1992, he is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alcalá (UAH).

Dra. Junkal Landaburu Aguirre
Researcher
Dr. Junkal Landaburu Aguirre obtained the degree of M.Sc (Chemistry) in 2004 from the University of Basque Country, Spain. She started her PhD studies in 2006 in the Environmental and Chemical Engineering group of the University of Oulu, Finland, from where she got her doctoral degree in 2012. Her PhD thesis was focused on the removal of heavy metals from phosphorous rich wastewaters using membrane technology (Micellar-Enhanced Ultrafiltration).

Dra. Serena Molina Martínez
Researcher
She obtained her PhD by the Complutense University of Madrid. Her knowledge about material science has been complemented with the Master Degree in Advanced Specialization in Plastics and Rubber at UIMP-CSIC.

Anamary Pompa Pernía
Predoctoral researcher
She is a Chemical Engineer from the University of Orient (UO) ¨Julio Antonio Mella¨- Cuba (2015). After graduating, she worked as a chemical engineer for the craft-brewery manufacture in Varadero-Cuba, being the responsible in the control of automated and computerized operations.
