The event was held on September 25 .

On September 25, IMDEA Water was present once again at the European Researchers' Night in Madrid with the activities carried out at the Royal Botanic Garden Juan Carlos I at the University of Alcalá: 'The life of the water through the microscope toxic cyanobacteria', 'Science in emergencies' and 'The underground aquatic ecosystems – The Final Frontier'.

In addition, IMDEA Water collaborated with other IMDEA Institutes in the activity 'Science and scientists in cinema: truth is stranger than fiction?', held at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid.

• 'Science in emergencies'. IMDEA Water researchers, members of the Emergency Response Unit Water and Sanitation (ERU WATSAN)  of the Spanish Red Cross, recreated an emergency situation in which attendees produced drinking water and checked their quality through testing kits.

• 'The life of the water through the microscope: toxic cyanobacteria'. Attendees discovered the problems that cause toxic cyanobacteria that arise, especially in summer, in some of our lakes and reservoirs. Our researchers explained how to work with these organisms, from sampling to laboratory analysis, in addition to explaining the importance of water control and water treatment to prevent poisoning.​

• 'The underground aquatic ecosystems – The Final Frontier'. Attendees also discovered how ecosystems are present in groundwater, knowing their most representative organizations and their importance to assess water quality. In addition, they learnt how some human activities can seriously affect these ecosystems (eg overexploitation of aquifers, mining, pollution, intensive tourism in caves, etc.).

On the other hand, different IMDEA Institutes participated in the activity Science and scientists in cinema: truth is stranger than fiction?. This activity was held at the Residencia de Estudiantes, that was transformed this time on a set in which researchers from IMDEA institutes told and sang what they think about science and scientists.
