On Friday, May 29, IMDEA Water welcomed a delegation from ACEA, the leading water utility in Italy and one of the most important public service companies in Europe, as part of a course organized by ESCP Business School.

The programme began with an institutional welcome and an overview of the institute delivered by the Deputy Director, Raffaella Meffe. This was followed by a presentation from researcher Mario Ballesteros, who introduced the activities of the Economics and Institutional Analysis Group, as well as its participation in projects such as Water4All Partnership, TRANSCEND and MADisWATER.

The visit continued with a tour of the institute’s scientific facilities, including the Chemical Analysis Service, led by Isabel López Heras and Laura Cherta Cucala, and the Membrane Technology pilot plants presented by Junkal Landaburu. Outdoors, the delegation visited the experimental mesocosms with Mariana Capparelli and Fernando Chaguaceda from the Aquatic Ecology and Biotechnology Group (AEB), the METland® system with Juan Manuel Ortiz from the Environmental Bioelectrochemistry Group (Bioe), and the green filters with Alicia Fuertes from the Soil and Water Quality in the Environment Group (SWQ).

The visit highlighted IMDEA Water’s role as a reference center in water research and knowledge transfer, while also providing an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore new avenues for collaboration between both entities.
