Research stays: The SWQ group welcomes a researcher from the Autonomous University of Coahuila
Maricarmen Alarcón, pre-doctoral researcher at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, Mexico, has stayed at IMDEA Agua under the supervision of Irene de Bustamante. This visit is part of her thesis work on Assessing the vulnerability of social groups and actors to public policies due to water pollution.
The work of Alarcón, who holds a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning, focuses on the evaluation of the water quality of the Huacapa River (Oaxaca, Mexico) to determine its risk of contamination. The choice of the SWQ group to carry out her work is due to its “specialisation in wastewater sanitation”.
The stay is being carried out in a mixed form – face-to-face and virtual – between October 2022 and 27 May, which has allowed him to obtain the results of the laboratory tests and to complete a research article that will be published shortly.
