Title: Towards multifunctional agricultural landscapes in Europe: Assessing and governing synergies between food production, biodiversity and ecosystem services
Duration: 2015 - 2018
Research groups: Soil and Water Quality in the Environment (SWQ)
Description
The project investigate the potential conflicts and possible synergies between agricultural services and biodiversity through the development of land use scenarios and optimisation models in five river basins across Europe.
IMDEA Water Institute contributes to the creation of a hydrological model that reflected the performance of the water resources of the Cega, Eresma and Adaja watersheds – in the provinces of Ávila, Segovia, and Valladolid – as part of the Douro River basin. Assessing both the quality and quantity of watershed resources, it is possible to predict the effects of water management strategies, land use and climate change impacts on water resources.
