IMDEA Water to showcase its research at Madrid is Science fair
IMDEA Water will be present from March 7 to 9 at the Madrid es Ciencia 2024 Fair. Organised by the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation and IFEMA, this thirteenth edition is presented as a comprehensive display of the R&D&I capabilities of the Community of Madrid for the construction of a sustainable future. Aimed at school communities and the public, the fair is held within the framework of the Education Week.
With the motto The illusion of doing science, the IMDEA Institutes will showcase their latest advances to the public in an interactive way. IMDEA Agua will exhibit its innovation and research for sustainable development, from studies of the impact of contaminants (pesticides, antibiotics, and biocides) on aquatic microorganisms to nature-based solutions to treat contaminated water or the bioremediation of contaminated environments.
Among the dissemination activities, it is worth mentioning the talk that Dr Ana de Santiago, from the group Soil & Water Quality , will give on Friday the 8th at 1:00 p.m. in the Ágora space of the Madri+d Knowledge Foundation. It will address how contaminants of emerging concern – drugs, microplastics, detergents, additives – generated in our homes can end up in surface waters and agricultural soils, and how they finish up on our tables.
The current edition of the Madrid es Ciencia Fair will revolve around different themes, including wildlife, engineering for sustainable development, energy efficiency and World Women’s Day.
